Discussion: Getting the New Year Started

Posted by on February 7, 2012 in Discussion Questions | 8 comments

Blogging tends to be a mostly one-sided affair: the author talks, the readers listen (er, read) and occasionally raise their hands. I want to know more about what you think. So in the spirit of getting more conversations going, I’d like to introduce the Question of the Week.

What was the best part of 2011? What are your new year goals?

I think my 2011 highlights were making like 3 top book series from readers. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but it was awesome for me.

My goal for 2012 is to get better.

For me, the best part of 2011 was leaving my day job. It was one of those horrible, sit-in-a-cubicle all day jobs, with no natural light or fresh air. Nothing felt quite as good as walking out of the office that last day.

Oh, congrats! I did this too, so I know what you mean. Ah, sunlight =)

Best part of 2011…hmm…I’d say starting my blog and jumping into the social media fray, which has been a wonderful experience.

My New Year’s resolution was to finish my WIP (which is progressing quite nicely), to expand my Triberr tribe (done) and read more than I did last year, which so far is going quite well. :)

Those are all great goals! Are you going to look for an agent when you are done with your WIP, or are you going to self or indie publish?

For me the highlight of 2011 lingered into fruition at the start of 2012. It was September 2011 where I realized what I need to do to achieve the goal (s) I have. I experienced a clear urge to make it happen. I was motivated spiritually, mentally and physically with the energy to put everything in order.

So at the start of 2012 I am experiencing clarity.

To answer the question simply… The highlight of 2011, was/is finding myself.

That’s a great way to begin the new year. Now the trick is keeping momentum ;)
