Entertainment List: Circus, Carnival, Theater

I know this will sound like an odd request, probably because it is.

I am looking for books and movies that center around a theater, opera house, or circus/carnival, or at least prominently features one.

So far I have:

Phantom of the Opera
Moulin Rouge
Rouge, by Leigh Talbert Moore
Twilight Eyes, by Dean Koontz
The Vampire Lestat, by Anne Rice (Théâtre des Vampires, anyone?)

And, um, that’s about it.

Any suggestions? Book or movie, indie or traditional, yours or someone elses.

Thanks!

    Hi Rainy,
I don’t know if cabaret and performance arts fall into this category? But a few days ago I finished a gorgeous book called Painted Faces by L.H Cosway. It’s set in Dublin and features a guy named Nicholas, who performs in a gay nightclub as a drag queen. He ropes his neighbour, Freda, into being his assistant. It’s a funny, charming and entertaining story about love, friendship and celebrates individuality.

Yaay! Let me know what you think of ROUGE~ Best, :o ) <3

It’s maybe a younger readers’ book, but I’ve always loved, and still love, The Circus is Coming by Noel Streatfeild. Actually many of Streatfeild’s books involve theatre, dance, and/or circus — Curtain Up (Theatre Shoes in the UK) is all about a theatre school and the characters are in and out of theatres the whole time.
