Discussion: Defining Writing Success

Everyone defines success differently, and that’s true among writers too.

For some, it’s the numbers of readers they reach, even if for free.

Others, it’s the number of five star reviews.

Some just want to write what they love, regardless of who reads it.

And, of course, there are the ones who want to make a living from their writing.

How do you define writing success?

I wrote my first story because I was bored and didn’t feel like reading. I only tried to publish it on a whim. I suppose you could say that my direct goal or measurement of success is related to how much my writing entertains myself.
