How would you describe yourself?

obsessively laid-back

How would you describe what you write?

imaginatively logical

What inspired you to start writing your first book?

I had too much time on my hands, and figured I could amuse myself by writing.

Do you prefer chocolate or vanilla?

chocolate all the way

What authors influence your writing?

I dunno; I like Michael Chrichton and Stephen King.

What one writing tip do you have for new authors?

Write what you like to read.

Did you self or traditionally publish, and why did you choose that route?

I self published my newest book, Panoptemitry, because a self publishing website (http://iwritereadrate.com) paid for an MSS-editing report over my book manuscript.

Do you have a blog, and how has it helped with your promotional efforts?

truthfully, I’ve always written with a blog, so I’m not sure what I could compare the promotional results to.

What one thing are you OCD about, in general?

Even if the facts I use are silly and made up sounding, I like to try and have them true.

What is the most creative way you have promoted any of your books?

I’ve tried drawing my own covers even though that hasn’t helped my sales much.

What would you do differently if you had to start over?

I might put a bit more effort into advertising, but then again the writing part is more fun, so i probably wouldn’t.
Where do you hope to see yourself in the next five years? I’d like to have made it worthwhile to continue writing, because I can’t think of much I’d rather do.

What are the first three rules you would make if you took over the world?

I would require everyone to get out and try what they think they might like.
I would insist that schools teach children to care for some type of animal before they graduate.
I would ban oranges.

I just interviewed this author on my blog. Great interview! The part about banning oranges made me laugh, then made me a little sad. :)
